GOLO Donates to Food Bank of Delaware to Fight Hunger and Food Insecurity
GOLO recently presented a check for $20,000 to the Food Bank of Delaware to help combat hunger and food insecurity in our corporate home state of Delaware. In addition to supporting local food distributions, the donation will provide community-based mobile pantries for members of the military and weekend meals for children.
"We are pleased to expand our relationship with the Food Bank of Delaware while supporting military families and children in need throughout the state," said Jennifer Brooks, President and Co-founder, GOLO.
Local Impact:
Mobile pantry events funded by GOLO will focus on the emergency food needs of military families and veterans residing in Delaware. GOLO's donation will also benefit The Food Bank of Delaware's Backpack Program, which provides food year-round to children in need for weekends and holidays when school is not in session, and federal school meal programs are not available.
"We are grateful that GOLO shares our commitment to ensuring that Delawareans have access to food - especially nutritious food," said Cathy Kanefsky, President and CEO, Food Bank of Delaware. "This generous donation will ensure that military families and children in our community have the food they need."
The Food Bank of Delaware distributes millions of pounds of food each year to the community through on-site food pantries, mobile food pantries and a network of hunger-relief partners throughout the state. Its five-acre farm in Newark provides a supply of fresh local produce for members of the community. In addition to immediate food assistance, the Food Bank of Delaware also provides hope for a better tomorrow through workforce and community development programming. It offers job training in the areas of food service and warehousing/logistics, nutrition education, financial coaching through Stand By Me and benefits outreach.
